Damn near immediate follow-up to this comic book store’s debut album, the Chicago-centric hallogallo chronicle Red Xerox, and this one closes the same sort of gap for bands currently active in NYC, with some known quantities (the great Chronophage, more in a Donna Allen folksy bag here), a bunch of bands you’ve read about here (Badger Hunt, Bullseye, Van Goth), some you haven’t (Guyscrapers, so Almost Ready pilled you’d think you were holding six bootlegs; a screamo band called The Tourniquet who might be looking for ABC No Rio) and some you might like to avoid (the obnoxious C.S. Cleaners and Suburban Speed) ... in short, the kind of bands that comprise a scene. Has a sort of Tuesday night showcase desolation missing from Red Xerox, probably for the best, but as a document of a few things happening in the greatest city on Earth right now you can do a lot worse than the audio equivalent of flipping through somebody’s zine that just hit the stands. Honestly Chicago wins this round, though I doubt anyone meant it to be a contest.
