Chew on these:

BONO / BURRATINI Ora Sono Un Lago LP (Maple Death)

Italian duo par intrigante, vocals and percussives/queen of all instruments hours burning the night away in a space between lunar capsule synth programming, rockist chug, orchestrated arrangements and forever drone unit symbols to unite a sci-fi utopia with chaos at its core. There’s a composerly side to the ten tracks of Ora Sono Un Lago that has come to be expected from Maple Death’s coterie of avant-gardists, and maybe more so here; Francesca Bono’s voice acts as the liminal key to Vittoria Burratini’s desires for simultaneity in effortlessly flowing systems and rattlingly abrupt mechanicals, the machine that runs with a squeak or a certain rawness in its orbits. All of this scores a movie yet to be realized that I want to see – maybe it’s the good version of Beyond the Black Rainbow we were all promised, because the sentinel that gets deployed across these tracks cuts a much more striking figure. Kind of a must-experience work here, especially side A.
