SWEDISH MAGAZINES Laughing Problem 12” EP (Tall Texan)

Burly glam duo from ex-OBN IIIs aux (now stationed in LA and Austin) , really stretching out that drive between the two across four separate narratives here, or maybe really two: finding the notches where Hawkwind can hang on a modified heavy Texas rock & roll, and find how much light it can let in when they shed it completely and play the bones underneath its skeleton. Singer reminds me of the late Sean O’Donnell of Surgery in how they both channel Iggy, but musically this thing jumps around from afternoon boogie to caverns-of-Mars interstitials, and finally to a place that’s flattened and expansive but still glowing bright green, like a Wall of Voodoo tape melting into the asphalt like a Toynbee tile. Not like a ton of other stuff around right now and absolutely worth your time.
