This is a list of my favorite new releases from the first half of 2025. Obviously I didn’t listen to everything that came out. Obviously if I’m big into a band’s music from before, and still am after a new record, I don’t try to hide it. This year it’s pretty hard for a lot of people to focus on what’s on and what ain’t, so consider this a single source of truth from someone who’s more on it than not. I’ve written about most of this here already, and invite you to go dig through the archives from weeks past to catch yourselves up. In a time when we’re all being fucked around on an hourly basis, here is music that will help you to unfuck yourself.
